One photo library on iPhone, iPad, and Mac

Photograph a product line on your iPhone, then edit the set on your Mac or iPad. Lightbox keeps its library in your own iCloud Drive, so every iPhone, iPad, and Mac signed in to your Apple Account shows the same photos.

What syncs

  • Your photos, with their originals, their edits, and their undo history
  • Your templates
  • The export format and the template for new photos

An edit you start on your iPhone can be undone on your Mac. A template you save on your iPad is in the sidebar on your Mac and in the Templates tool on your iPhone.

Where your photos are kept

The library is stored in a hidden Lightbox folder in your iCloud Drive, so you do not see it among your files. Lightbox has no account of its own, and your photos are not uploaded to Iterator’s servers.

Background removal, adjustments, and exports run on the device you are using.

Without iCloud Drive

If iCloud Drive is off for Lightbox, the library stays on that device. To use it on your other devices, turn on iCloud Drive for Lightbox in Settings on iPhone or iPad, or in System Settings on a Mac. The library on the device then moves into iCloud Drive and merges with the library already there.

Settings shows where the library is and how many items are still downloading. On a Mac or iPad, the foot of the sidebar shows the same.

Edits on two devices

Each device saves only the photos and templates it changed, so an edit on your Mac does not replace a different edit on your iPhone. Changes from your other devices appear as they arrive and when you return to the app. If two devices change the same photo before they sync, the newer change is kept.
