Put your product on white

A white background gives a listing image a simple structure. The product is easy to see, neighboring photos share a common setting, and the same picture can fit into a shop page or catalog.

A plain canvas with room to adjust

Lightbox’s workflow pairs background removal with a white canvas. Position the item, leave enough space around its edges, and match the crop to the other products in the same collection.

Changing the background color is different from brightening the whole photo. Raising the exposure until the original wall turns white can also remove detail from the product. Keep the subject and background adjustments separate.

Keep light products visible

A white shirt or a cream mug still needs a readable outline. Start with soft light from the side and enough contrast in the source photo to show folds or curves. Preserve the shape instead of increasing contrast until the material looks darker than it is.

A restrained contact shadow can help an item sit naturally on a surface. The Background tool includes a Shadow control. Check the destination’s rules before using a styled shadow in a marketplace main image.

Make a consistent set

Use the same canvas shape and similar margins across your images. Centering every object by its outer edges is not always enough. A tall bottle and a wide shoe may need different placement to look balanced together.

The batch editor can put a whole selection on white, with a final review of each image.

Export a finished background

A white-background image has white pixels behind the product. It is different from a transparent cutout. For a listing that does not need transparency, a finished JPEG can be a practical choice. Read PNG and JPEG for product photos.
